I taught English Language Arts from 2004 through 2018. In 2018, I began my role as Library Media Specialist at Auburn Junior High School. I have an undergraduate degree in secondary English language arts education (2012) from Auburn University and a master’s degree in library media (2014) from Auburn University (War Eagle!). Since 2014, I have worked at Auburn Junior High. I started my career teaching 9th grade English, student publications, and mass media. In 2020, I transitioned to my role as instructional technology and media specialist and continue in that role today. My number one goal as a media specialist is to make sure all students and teachers are equipped with the tools and skills to be an upstanding digital citizen in today’s world.

About the Library
Library Policies
Hours And Information
The library is open to staff and students 7:50-3:50. Many teachers schedule times for their classes to visit, and any teacher can make a pass for students to visit as needed; students are welcome to drop by before or after school as well. Students may check out up to three physical items for three weeks at a time. Items can be returned using the exterior book drop or in the library. In addition to visiting the library in person, students can log in to Destiny to browse and place holds on books as well as using Sora to check out eBooks and audiobooks. The library has several computers available for students to use for educational purposes.
Loans
Click here to search the Destiny library catalog. Students may check out three items at a time. All items are due back three weeks from the checkout date. Due dates are stamped in the back of each item. Items may be renewed as long as no one else is waiting on them. Overdue notices are sent to students via email as well as paper. New materials cannot be checked out until overdue items are returned. Books lost, damaged, or not returned by the end of the school year must be paid for. You can click here to pay on My School Bucks.
eBooks and Audiobooks
Students have access to eBooks and Audiobooks available to access on their school iPads or personal devices. We have many titles in our ebook collection that we do not have in the physical collection, as well as additional copies of popular titles! We also have unlimited magazine and comic/graphic access on Sora. In addition to the three checkouts of library materials, students may borrow two ebooks at a time. Students can access these books through Sora, the Overdrive app, which may be downloaded to smart phones or tablets and is available in Self Service on student iPads or can be accessed by clicking here. Students will select Auburn City Schools then log in using Clever.

Book Club
The library and Auburn Public Library collaborate to host a book club, LitWits, that meets in the library during students’ lunch times. Students can join at any time and there are no reading requirements. We just enjoy talking about the books we’re reading and recommending great books to others. Students can click here to join our ParentSquare group if interested in joining.
Library Guidelines
Patron Expectations
All student patrons are expected to adhere to school rules, including digital device use, dress code, and requesting a hall pass to leave. If here with a class, a student’s classroom teacher is the primary supervisor; when here individually, librarians and library assistants take over supervision. Patrons should always let an adult know when they arrive and follow instructions.
