Auburn Junior High School proudly recognizes Mr. Walt Nash as our 2025 Teacher of the Year!

Mr. Nash teaches 9th Grade Core Biology and has been a cornerstone of the AJHS science department since 2021. A proud Auburn University graduate, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences and Master’s Degrees in both Biology Education and Exercise Physiology. His deep content knowledge, combined with his passion for teaching, has inspired countless students to explore and appreciate the world of science.

Inside his classroom, Mr. Nash makes biology come alive by connecting lessons to the real world, inspiring curiosity, and motivating even the most reluctant learners. As one colleague shared, “He builds authentic relationships and connects with students on their level, making learning meaningful and personal.” His students describe him as someone who expects their best but always meets them with encouragement and understanding.

Beyond academics, Mr. Nash serves as a coach for football and baseball, an RTI representative, a CKH Process Champion for the Biology Department, and a supporter of FCA morning devotionals - all while greeting students with a smile on breakfast duty each morning. One teacher shared, “He’s firm yet approachable, and the kids love him. He does a great job with some of the toughest kids.”

Peers describe Mr. Nash as the calm in the storm. Someone who models grace, humor, and humility no matter the challenge. “He’s a calming presence among the faculty and a great co-worker,” one colleague said. Another added, “He’s a positive team player in the face of whatever a day may bring. He gives his all to the job, and it never seems to be too much. ACS is lucky to have him.”

From the classroom to the field, from morning duty to late-night games, Mr. Nash embodies everything it means to be an Auburn Junior High Tiger - dedicated, humble, and unwaveringly positive.
